Stine customers join Pink Bucket Brigade in the Fight Against Cancer

Tue, 11/12

Stine Home & Yard was all about pink in October! That’s because October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. The family-owned home improvement stores in Louisiana and Mississippi offered limited edition American Cancer Society pink buckets at the same price as Stine’s popular green bucket, but with an added benefit. For each pink bucket purchased by customers in October, Stine donated $2 to the American Cancer Society (ACS).

“Cancer touches so many lives,” says Stine Marketing Director Jeremy Stine, “and we want to do our part in helping to find a cure.” In addition to the 5-gallon buckets, Stine also offered Pink Paper Buckets at check-out lanes to anyone who would like to join the “Pink Bucket Brigade” and help “extinguish” cancer. Supporters of ACS could write their names on the paper bucket when making a donation of at least $1.

More men than usual were spotted wearing pink in various communities in October as a part of the national Real Men Wear Pink campaign. Jeremy Stine made the pledge to wear pink every day in October as one of 26 Real Men Who Wear Pink candidates in Southwest Louisiana.

Jeremy Stine chose to participate in Real Men Wear Pink to honor members of his family and associates at Stine who have been touched by cancer.

“My plan was to raise awareness and money to support the American Cancer Society's mission to save more lives from cancer than ever before,” Jeremy explained.

Thanks to the generosity of Stine customers and the commitment by Stine’s leadership and associate teams, nearly $7000 was donated to the American Cancer Society. Sara Corbello, ACS Community Development Manager for SWLA, explains that these funds will be available to assist breast cancer patients in local communities. For example: patients can request financial assistance for travel and lodging when traveling more than 50 miles for cancer treatments.

It is evident, by looking at this check-out counter in Iowa, that customers felt this was a worthy cause. Stine thanks YOU for your generosity!
